Paper Chairs! STEM.

We are learning to problem solve as a team.
We made a chair out of paper and tape it had to be 10 cm.
My team was  Mayah Talulah  Miller and Me but Miller wasn´t here so it was the three of us. We had about half an hour to make our paper chair. At the end I was pretty proud of it but when it was testing time we didn´t even make through the first stage. Stage one was a Chicorita plushie (Chicorita= Pokemon), and stage two was a long Tuatara. The thing that went well was probably all of us having a role to do, and the what we need to work on might be working as a team. It was pretty challenging making a chair out of paper I mean it harder then you think it is right.

Have you ever made something out of paper?

Explanation Writing

We have been learning to write an explanation about animal life animal life cycles. We had to do google docs about the life cycle of  Frog the life cycle of a Panda and the life cycle of a Tuatara. The thing that went well was that we got heaps of information about different animals. my next step is probably not saying they a lot at the start of my sentences.

Have you ever seen a life cycle before?

The Life Cycle Of A Tuatara!

Have you ever wondered about the life cycle of a Tuatara, egg to its full grown life well today your gonna find out!

The Egg Stage.

Tuatara eggs get buried in soil. They lay about ten-nineteen eggs at a time they stay in the soil for up to twelve-fifteen months. The Tuatara grows in the egg for time it is in the egg and they are soft and leathery                                                 (the eggs). The weather depends on which it is a male or female it will be a male if it is cold and a female if it is warm.

The Hatchling Stage

Secondly the Hatchlings come out of the eggs and are left to defend themselves. They also have three eyes the Hatchlings are twelve to fifteen centimetres long.

The Juvenile Stage

For the first fifteen years they are called Juveniles. Juveniles can not have babies. They avoid adult Tuataras cause they are cannibals and that's why they hunt in the day. They grow scales over their third eye because they don't ́t need it anymore and are about forty five- sixty centimetres.

The Tuatara Stage

Adult Tuataras sleep during the day and hunt during the night because they are nocturnal animals. They bask in the sun to get body temperature. They hibernate through the Winter to avoid the cold temperature and not much food like Bears. They have babies every three to four years. The food they eat are Beatles, Crickets, Spiders, frogs, Lizards, Centipedes, eggs, birds and members of its own species.

Stem Friday

W.A.L.T : To problem solve as a team.
Today we had stem, our challenge was to build a bridge that was off the ground that is made of ice block sticks and rubber bands. Before we did anything we work out how we are going to form our project after that we started to create the bridge at first it was all a bit challenging but then we all kinda got the hang of it all. The thing that we did good was we all were working and creating stuff for our bridge,Next time i think we all could have a positive mind set at the start. When e tested our bridge sadly it did not work but at least we tried our hardest.

Have you ever done stem before ?
Please check out my blog.

Fantastic Friday STEM

W.A.L.T work together to problem solve.
At the end we managed to get the marble through our project that we made, at the end it was really cool out come and to see other groups work really hard.
something that was challenging was having a good mind set that is something we need to work on and that was challenging.
Our next step is to work as one and try a little bit harder.

The Balloon Experiment

Last Wednesday we did an experiment with some balloons we learnt about density and surface pressure and how things float so we did an experiment with some balloons we acted like the balloons were the water and that we were floating on it. We were learning to write recounts in a recount there are...  The intro which has to have the five w's the five w's are who, what, when, where, and why. After the intro there is the main body that includes all of the main parts in the recount. Then there is the conclusion that is how you felt and all of your feelings.

The Balloon Experiment.
Last Wednesday  Room 4 did an experiment with the balloons.
We did it in Room 4. We did it because we wanted to continue on stem for surface pressure.

At first we didn't know what we were doing but then Miss Hart pulled out a packet of balloons and handed one out to everyone. We started to blow up the balloons and put them in the middle. Miss Hart asked some people to help get a move a desk upside down onto the balloons. After that we got into a circle and she got the desk on the balloons. The people that went on first were Kate G and Nevaeh. They looked like they were pretty scared and after a while they got off. Miss Hart chose some more people I was the first person I got on straight away and stood up and waited. She chose five more people they were, Quinn, Alex, Aimee, Ocea, and Bryce. Bryce kept on jumping up and down and trying to make the balloons. But I told him to stop.

I felt pretty nervous about getting on the desk on the balloons but pretty excited at the same time. But I loved it! It was probably the best experiment ever!

We are learning to write instructions to teach  people to do different things. For example art, and now we have been doing it for about a week just working on our instructions and doing some as a class. When we were writing them we  could write the instructions on anything we want. In every set of instructions you will have to have a goal, title and steps. This is mine.

How To Play Rugby

Goal: to play rugby.
Materials:
  • rugby ball
  • People

Steps:
1.  Firstly you choose your teams. Then you go on the field and one team kicks off.
2. When you get the ball you have to run and try to get to the other side of the field and place the ball on the white line.
3.When you get tackled you will have to place the ball on your side of the field when your laying on the ground to your teammates.
4.Then someone from your team will get the ball and do the same thing.

5.When a team scores the team that scored will kick off and then it just keeps on going until the game ends.

Escape Room

Escape Room

We have been learning to work in teams with people in different classes to problem solve. For the past couple of weeks we have been doing stem challenges with the kids in room 2. Today we did an escape room. The escape room was based on our emotions and there were 7 tasks and 7 clues. Each task was a different strategie. Once you had finished a task we went to Miss Hart and she gave us a word when we got all 7 words we had to put the words in their order and say to the teacher what the sentence is. The thing that worked the best in my team was that everyone got something to do and the people in my team are Oli from room 2 Sophia from room 2 Nevaeh from room 4 Jayden from room 4 and Fletcher from room 4 ( Fletcher is me). The thing that we need to work on the most was listening to other peoples ideas and not talking over people and not shout. My goal is not to go off and find all the clues. Have you ever played escape room? P.S Our team got first!

The Terrifying Tomb

WALT: write a narrative. We had four story choices, the choices were The Great Escape, The Tomb, The Mirror, and The Magic Ride. The part that I enjoyed the most was that we could basically make up our own story but it was based on the same thing so you could add in like Pokemon and that kind of stuff. The part that I found hard was editing my work because I had to click on all the words and look very closely so I didn´t miss anything. My next step is to make my starting more interesting by not using the same word heaps. The next thing that I want to right about is well..... ANYTHING! Time for my story.

Have You Ever Writ A Narrative.

                                   THE TOMB

It was a normal Saturday night on the plane to Egypt, but is wasn't a normal Saturday night because on the speakers the pilot said that we were in an emergency and that we were going to crash. But luckily there were parachutes under the seats so we used those to get down safely. When we got to ground level we realised that we were stranded in the middle of the desert! But in the distance we saw an Egyptian pyramid, and then we said to each other maybe there's a town over there! So we travelled all the way to the pyramid but there was no town, so we went inside the pyramid and it was about five hundred years old and there were about fifty traps so we knew it was hiding something. We looked up and down and all we saw was dust and spider webs. So we made a little camp by the pyramid. We camped for about two day, and then we tried to get through to the end of the pyramid and run through all of the traps and come out with the  treasure alive. We tried and tried but we couldn't do it. But we tried again and we got pretty far and a skeleton warrior ́s and zombies came out of the walls. So we got our torches and threatened them with it. They trapped us in a corner, but luckily a guy called Indiana Jones came and rescued us and got us out of the pyramid, and we eventually we rushed to an airport and got back home. The first night that we got home we heard a knock on the door in the middle of the night...

BOBBY-JOE

We have been learning to describe a character. To do this you need to write what they look like, their likes and dislikes and what they do. I enjoyed making up the character and getting all the descriptive words. What I found challenging was describing the character. I'v improved in my writing by writing better similes. Out of all the characters in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD what would you choose.

We are learning to write persuasive arguments. We learned that everyone can like different things.🤔
But if your arguing you have to come up with three reasons why it is better than the other thing, and than after you have the choice to stay or go on the other team. Mine were beyblades. I made videos to try and make people buy them and battle them to see which beyblade is better. You can mix beyblades to try and make them better. There are hundreds to collect. You can buy them online for about five dollars or two. In shops you can buy them for about thirty-two dollars or twenty-five. You need a beyblade a launcher and a stadium and then battle with a friend. My favourite part was deciding on what I like better. Like live with my great great great grandchildren from the future or live with my great great great grandparents from the past. I did go to the past and meet my great great grandparents. What would you do?

Statistics is gathering information.

Statistics  is gathering information.

Bar graph.
A bar graph is used to gather information you get all of the info and you write the  options under the bar graph and do all of the votes above. Then on the edge right numbers one to whatever number you like but it has to a higher number with the the column with the most votes.

Pictogram.

A  pictogram is kinda like a bar graph you have to get all the information and everything. But when you write down the information you draw pictures instead of bars. So say that I was doing Pokémon I would draw Pokémon.

Tally Chart

A tally chart is another way to gather information. Every vote you draw one line. When you get to four lines and you put a cross through it.

My favourite part was gathering the information. The hardest part was probably doing everything really quickly. By Fletcher
